Always verify the scale before cutting
Most pattern PDFs include a test square of 20 or 50 mm. This tool adds a 50 mm ruler in the corner of page one as well. Measure it after printing: exactly 50 mm and your settings are right, around 48 mm and Fit to page has shrunk the job to 96 percent. Cut fabric from that and the bodice comes out several centimetres short.
The exact settings on Windows and macOS
In Adobe Acrobat Reader on Windows, set Page Sizing and Handling to Actual size. Both Fit and Shrink oversized pages apply scaling. In Preview on macOS, set Scale to 100 percent and clear the Scale to fit checkbox. Avoid printing a pattern from a web browser, whose print path adds its own scaling more often than not.
Why the overlap defaults to 10 mm
For patterns the default flap is 10 mm rather than 5, because a pattern is nothing but line positions: a two-millimetre misalignment changes the seam allowance. Use the printed assembly labels and the fold line as registration marks. On thin paper you can hold two sheets up to the light and match the lines through them. When the sheet is assembled, sight along every line that should be straight and check that it is.

Patterns from American designers often assume US Letter at 215.9 by 279.4 mm. A4 is 6 mm narrower and 18 mm taller, so printing a Letter pattern onto A4 with Fit to page silently scales it to about 97 percent. This tool lets you choose Letter as the output sheet, so keep a Letter pattern on Letter and tile it there.

How do I check the print came out at full size?
Measure the 50 mm ruler printed in the corner of page one with a steel rule or tape. Exactly 50 mm means the scale is right; anything shorter means the print dialog scaled it down. If the pattern has its own test square, check both.
What overlap should I use for a pattern?
Ten millimetres. Five works for posters, but on a pattern a one or two millimetre misalignment changes the seam allowance. A 10 mm overlap gives you enough shared artwork to align the lines by eye.
Can it handle an A0 pattern sheet?
Yes. Many pattern designers ship every piece nested on a single A0 sheet. Choose actual size and it tiles straight onto A4. Expect sixteen or more pages, so allow time for the printing.
Are the final dimensions guaranteed?
No, and no browser tool can guarantee them. The printed size depends on your printer driver and dialog settings. This page specifies the correct dimensions in the PDF and prints a 50 mm ruler so you can confirm them. Always measure before you cut.
