Choosing a ticket size
Three sizes cover most events: 60 by 180 mm, 55 by 170 mm and 48 by 120 mm. The largest fits four to a landscape A4 and leaves room for real information, which suits a festival or a club night. The smallest packs eight or more per sheet and works for numbered queue tickets. Any other size can be entered directly in millimetres.
Where the stub goes
The perforation is set as a distance from the left edge of the ticket. On a 180 mm ticket, 45 mm is a common stub. Put the serial number and the seat class on the stub, and the event name, date and venue on the part the holder keeps. The guide is drawn as a dashed rule; the actual perforation is made afterwards with a perforating wheel or scored with the back of a knife.
Design for the door, not the page
If staff tear tickets at the entrance, make sure the serial number lands on the stub — otherwise you cannot count admissions from the pile you collected. If re-entry is allowed, repeat the number on both halves so the two can be matched. The serial numbering feature fills those numbers in for you.
Frequently asked questions
Does it actually perforate the paper?
No — the PDF carries a dashed guide only. No home printer perforates. Run a rotary perforating wheel along the guide, or score the line with the back of a craft knife against a rule; either tears cleanly enough for a door.
Can each ticket carry a different number?
Yes. The serial numbering option takes a starting number, a digit count and a prefix, then writes 0001 upward across every ticket, at whatever position and point size you set — small, on the stub, is the usual choice.
How heavy should the stock be?
Around 120-160 gsm if the ticket will be torn. Heavier stock resists the perforation and tears untidily; lighter stock creases in a pocket. A keepsake ticket that will not be torn can go to 200 gsm or more.
