Micro 5 weekly, list on the left refills you print yourself

Generate a weekly, list on the left refill cut to Micro 5 — 62 x 105 mm, 5-hole. Each of the seven dated slots is about 8.7 mm tall, leaving the bottom third free. Seven dated slots on the left page and an open page on the right — the classic spread. You can download the sheet at its true size for duplex printing, or as an A4 page carrying 8 copies with cut lines, so an ordinary home printer is all you need.

Micro 5: sheet size and hole pattern

A Micro 5 sheet is 62 x 105 mm with 5 punched holes. Centre-to-centre spacing runs 19-19-19-19 mm from the top, so the run of holes spans 76 mm and sits centred on the sheet, and each centre is about 6.5 mm in from the binding edge with a 4.5 mm punch. About the size of a card case — for people who deliberately carry very little. These are the widely quoted nominal figures — real binders vary between manufacturers, so treat the printed hole guides as a reference and either punch through an existing refill or let a six-hole punch set the positions.

How the weekly, list on the left layout is used

Seven dated slots on the left page and an open page on the right — the classic spread. For people with few appointments and many notes, or who write a weekly review. Rule colour can be black, grey, light blue or pink and the line weight is adjustable, so the ruling stays out of the way if you draft in pencil and ink over it. Dated layouts take a year and month, and public holidays are deliberately left off: they differ by country and by year, so writing in the ones that matter to you is more reliable than trusting a generated calendar.

Print 8 up on A4

A 62 x 105 mm sheet will not feed reliably through a home printer, so the tool also builds an A4 sheet with 8 refills laid out on it, complete with cut lines and hole guides. Trim with a craft knife and a steel rule, then punch. The one setting that matters is scaling: choose "Actual size" or 100%, because the usual default of "Fit to page" shrinks the sheet by a few millimetres and throws the hole spacing off.

Paper weight, and why nothing is uploaded

Commercial refills are usually 70-80 gsm. Ordinary copier paper at 64-68 gsm binds fine but ghosts badly with fountain-pen ink, so pick 80 gsm or heavier if you write on both sides. One more thing worth knowing: the PDF is assembled inside your browser. The dates you type and the file you download never reach a server, and there is no upload step at all.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check that my binder really takes Micro 5 sheets?

Pull one refill out and measure it. If it is around 62 x 105 mm with 5 holes, it is Micro 5. Sheets of the same outer size can still have different hole spacing, so also check the gap between the first and second hole — about 19 mm on Micro 5.

How much free space is there?

The seven dated slots take roughly the top 70% of the sheet and the remaining third is ruled free space. Rule spacing is adjustable between 6 and 8 mm to match your handwriting.

When I duplex, does the gutter end up on the wrong side?

Turn the duplex option on and every second page is mirrored, so the wider gutter always lands on the same physical edge and the rings never sit on top of your writing.

The printed sheet came out slightly small

That is "Fit to page" scaling. Pick "Actual size" or 100% in the print dialog. Printing the downloaded PDF from a PDF viewer is more reliable than printing from the browser preview.
